Challenges: 

Exelon faced significant challenges in addressing the complexities of carbon footprints and offsets, which are often confusing and difficult to grasp. Many businesses and individuals feel that their contributions to climate change solutions are insignificant, making sustained engagement in climate-beneficial behaviors particularly tough. Exelon aimed to create a platform that would generate new revenue streams by connecting like-minded individuals in carbon offset marketplaces and encouraging participation from climate-friendly businesses. Additionally, they required a comprehensive digital product strategy, design and deployment of a digital marketplace, and the development of iOS and Android mobile applications.

Solutions: 

Exelon engaged Agency39A to create and launch the EcoCRED application. Our comprehensive approach included design thinking, user experience design, product strategy, brand identity, and mobile development for both iOS and Android platforms. We initiated the project with concept and design sprints to identify strategic priorities and key features, validated through focus groups, interviews, and user observations. These insights led to interactive prototypes, refined wireframes, and a well-defined value proposition and brand mission. We developed technical architecture and successfully launched the EcoCRED app and marketplace on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, ensuring sustained engagement and new revenue streams for Exelon. 

Results: 

Agency39A's expertise brought EcoCRED to life, an app where users cultivate eco-friendly habits, discover sustainable products, and access insightful articles on climate change. The app analyzes users' diet, lifestyle, and residence to estimate their daily carbon footprint and fosters a community of eco-conscious users for support and information sharing. Our visual design team crafted a unique brand identity, complete with original iconography and visual systems for awards, such as badges and digital tokens, integrated into the app's currency. Since its launch, EcoCRED has achieved over 60,000 downloads, and its community has collectively reduced over 4,000,000 pounds of carbon emissions through sustainable habits and offsets, showcasing Agency39A's capability in creating impactful digital solutions.
